Step-by-step guide

Hi, and welcome to the step-by-step guide on how to use your Second Brain Notion template. This article is meant to help you set up your workspace as fast as possible, so let’s get right into it.

Step #1 Add the data

In this step you can either add all the data you need manually or you can import it using Notions import feature. If you’d like to import the project, for example, you can just navigate to your Projects Database, click on the three dots, and click Merge with CSV.

You can get to the Projects database by opening a project and clicking Projects in the upper left corner, on the breadcrumbs.

On the other hand, if you’d like to import data from another app, you can just click on three dots on the Project Hub page and than Import (it’s in the same place).

Now that we covered importing the data, we can talk about how and in which order you should add the data in your workspace.

This Second Brain contains a couple of sections:

  1. Areas - the widest section, this is your areas of life are contained and what should be added first
  2. Goals - specific, attainable and timely tasks, that should get done by a certain date. This should be added second.
  3. Resources - these are topics you want to learn about and notes are going to be categorized by these areas. This is the third thing you should add.
  4. Projects - projects should always have a date assigned to them (start and end date would be the best) and each project is connected to an area and a goal.
  5. Plan - this page is used to check out your entire plan and work that need to get done. Here you can add your priorities based on your projects and goals, you can check out all your projects by the quarter and it can be used for easier planning and managing your work.
  6. Tasks and Notes - if you have any tasks and notes the best way to add them is by importing them. If you don’t have tasks or notes, you can skip this.

That’s it, now you’re ready to tackle on the other pages of the workspace. Let’s go over them.

Step #2 Collecting date

Now that you’ve added everything it’s time to figure out how to use the pages like Inbox and Quick capture or My day.

Since the reason you’re using a Second Brain is to organize your life better, these pages are the ones that are going to help.
